What Is The Adhd Questionnaire Called
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects approximately 6.1 million children and 6.4 million adults in the United States. ADHD is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, and can cause significant difficulties in school, work, and relationships.
There is no single test that can diagnose ADHD. However, ADHD questionnaires are often used as a screening tool to identify individuals who may have ADHD. ADHD questionnaires ask questions about the individual's symptoms, thoughts, and behaviors. The results of the questionnaire can help to determine whether further evaluation is needed.
Types of ADHD questionnaires
There are many different types of ADHD questionnaires available. Some of the most common questionnaires include:
- Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS): The ASRS is a 18-question questionnaire that is used to screen for ADHD in adults.
- Vanderbilt Assessment Scale (VANS): The VANS is a 55-question questionnaire that is used to assess ADHD symptoms in children and adolescents.
- Conners Rating Scales-Revised (CRS-R): The CRS-R is a family of questionnaires that are used to assess ADHD symptoms in children, adolescents, and adults.
- Brown Attention-Deficit Disorder Scales (BADDS): The BADDS is a family of questionnaires that are used to assess ADHD symptoms in children, adolescents, and adults.
- Wender Utah Rating Scale (WURS): The WURS is a 25-question questionnaire that is used to screen for ADHD in adults.
How to complete an ADHD questionnaire
ADHD questionnaires are typically self-administered, meaning that you can complete them on your own. However, some questionnaires may be administered by a healthcare professional.
To complete an ADHD questionnaire, simply read each question carefully and select the answer that best describes you. There are no right or wrong answers. The goal is to be honest and accurate in your responses.
Interpreting the results of an ADHD questionnaire
The results of an ADHD questionnaire can help to determine whether you have symptoms of ADHD. However, it is important to note that ADHD questionnaires are not diagnostic tools. A diagnosis of ADHD can only be made by a healthcare professional.
If you have a high score on an ADHD questionnaire, it is important to follow up with a healthcare professional for further evaluation. This may include a physical exam, a psychological evaluation, and additional testing.
How to choose an ADHD questionnaire
There are many different ADHD questionnaires available, so it is important to choose one that is appropriate for you. When choosing an ADHD questionnaire, consider the following factors:
- Age: Some ADHD questionnaires are designed for children, while others are designed for adults.
- Language: Some ADHD questionnaires are available in multiple languages.
- Format: Some ADHD questionnaires are paper-and-pencil questionnaires, while others are electronic questionnaires.
- Length: Some ADHD questionnaires are short and easy to complete, while others are longer and more comprehensive.
If you are unsure which ADHD questionnaire to choose, talk to your doctor. They can help you to choose a questionnaire that is right for you.
Other resources for ADHD
If you are concerned that you or your child may have ADHD, there are many resources available to help you. Here are a few resources to get you started:
